...sort of makes me wonder how it's been possible that Alfa Romeo is in the situation it is now...On the other hand, Honda has always managed to captivate sports car aficionados" Cough, sorry what? What has Honda done since they killed the NSX and S2000? The CR-Z? Yeah, great job guys. The only difference Honda has to Alfa now is volume sales, and the lack of a cutting edge sports car. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Disclaimer (and I hope people read this before spewing hellfire at me): I actually rather like Honda. They've made some batshit cars over the years, and some brilliant ones as well. I would do horrible, horrible things to get my hands on an S800 :)

However, to say that they have always captured the minds of sports car enthusiasts when Alfa haven't I feel is bending the truth a little.

Grrr fanboi rage. Angst. Anger etc, etc. Have a picture of a kickass Honda and a kickass Alfa as recompense.

I agree - Alfa has ruined more pants than Honda could dream of, but Honda also had the Integra/RSX, TL Type-S and still makes the Civic Si.

Off-topic, but a "while I have you here" question: about what would you expect early-type Rover rocker covers to go for at a scrapyard/etc. in GB? Can't seem to find them for love or money here in the US, and the single set I found on GB eBay wasn't shipping out of the country. Well, I didn't ask, but they listed UK only, anyway .

Hell, at that price, I'd readily ship them to your place and just count on coming to the UK some time in the next year with an excuse. Considering the next best is Offenhauser ones for something like $250, I'd likely save enough in Rover parts on a trip to pay for the damn trip...

"The Japanese also love to tune them. Some take a very authentic historical and approach, while others don't seem to really care too much and add modern upgrades to get the most out of them. "

Also, a slight correction is due here. Everyone loves to tune 105 Coupes. It's hard to find a 105 without anything done to it. And they don't take a value hit when tuning them.

I'm aware of the awesome that Honda has created :) I'd also bet that Honda has a much bigger following with the younger crowd, on account of having a bot of a golden age starting in the 90s (but with build-up in the 80s).

However, at the moment, I'd rate the Giulietta QV as its equal in desirability and Honda has no current answer for the 4C. They've teased the NSX for bloody ages, but done nothing with it.

To be brutally honest, I rate Honda's chances higher than Alfa, but if Alfa isn't deserving of that accolade then neither is Honda.

That's about all I can say to what that guy said. That's the kind of shit you have to ignore, I guess.

Very true :) I certainly couldn't keep one stock if I had one

I'd be hard-pressed to keep 4 headlights even:

Hah, I love that gif :)

I can understand his viewpoint. Being in Japan, there's probably a lot more background love for Honda than me in the UK. If he's a Honda enthusiast then that's fine too. I get all giddy about cars like the Alfa 6, so I don't think I've got much ground to stand on there :)

If you can find them maybe about £30, perhaps less or more depending on how soft the chap on the desk you're speaking to is.

Hell, I could buy them, you paypal me that + postage to the States and I'll ship them over :) bit risky liasing with some random bloke on the internet, but I'm happy with your trustworthiness.

To take any risk out of liasing on your end, I can ship them straight off to your place, then figure out what to do about getting them in future. If you drop off an email to hlintgt @ gmail with your address, I can mail 'em straightaway there, and you'll have "Ramblin's rocker covers" to live on a shelf somewhere until I find myself in the UK or throw you money to mail 'em. Sound alright?

Neat :) we should definitely do an oppo exchange program. I'd gladly trade a car of equal worth for a Corvair, when someone gets round to buying my spare kidney and lung...

Meanwhile I'll see if I can source that Des Hammill book on performance builds. Def. worth a share when I do.

Love the idea! And Corvairs are cheap, man! I'm going to be in need of a MkI/II Escort at some point as well...

Just looked up some on eBay. A lot less expensive than I thought. RS' and that go for £20k+, but you can pick up a reasonable Mk1 for less than £10,000 :)
